About your hosts
Tom and Shirley Flint have lived in South Dakota their whole lives. God blessed them with two children John and Emily. Tom served in the South Dakota Army National Guard for 41 years and Shirley worked in human resources for Raven Industries. Shirley retired when they moved to Mitchell SD and Tom retired in June of 2022. As retirement approached, he thought it may be fun to provide a place for traveling horses to rest and recuperate from a day on the road and meet some people that enjoy horses like he does. He has participated in equestrian activities since the early 1980s when he bought his first horse Prince. Over the years he has enjoyed time with family and friends on trail rides and working with his horses on the acreage.
About your Equine Hosts
Boomer is a 19 year old Quarter horse Morgan mix. Her mom Lady was a member of the Flint family for many years. She got her name “Boomer” because Tom had Lady bred while he was in Iraq the first time and she was born when he came home. So she is a “baby boomer”
Duchess came to the farm from a fellow Soldier who was moving and could not take her with him. She is a 23 year old registered quarter horse out of Aberdeen SD. She is called Duchess because there is no doubt in her mind she is royalty.
